AI Could Impact 300M Jobs

Goldman Sachs predicts that as many as 300 million jobs could be affected by generative AI, with two-thirds of US jobs being exposed to automation by AI. Of those positions affected, as much as 50% of their workload could be replaced. However, the impact of AI on the labor market is likely to be significant, but most jobs and industries are only partially exposed to automation and are more likely to be complemented rather than substituted by AI. Goldman estimates that 7% of US jobs could be replaced by AI, with 63% being complemented by AI, and 30% being unaffected by it. Jobs with the lowest exposure to AI include cleaning and maintenance, installation and repair, and construction jobs.

🥳 Woodstock AI

The "Woodstock of AI" event hosted by New York-based startup Hugging Face in San Francisco drew an estimated 5,000 artificial intelligence enthusiasts, a great number of attendees considering that it was putt together in less than a week. The event, which focused on open source AI, highlighted San Francisco as the epicentre of the current AI boom, with luminaries including AI pioneer Andrew Ng and venture capitalists from firms like Greylock and Lux Capital in attendance. Hugging Face CEO Clément Delangue said that more than 10,000 companies have created AI models on Hugging Face's platform and predicts that if one million people are building in AI today, there will be 50 million in three years.

⛔ Google Denies bard was trained with ChatGPT Data

Google is reportedly forcing its DeepMind division to help the Google Brain team beat OpenAI with a new initiative called Gemini. This comes after Google's AI chatbot Bard failed to impress. The Information reported that Google had used data from OpenAI's ChatGPT to train Bard, scraped from a website called ShareGPT, but Google has denied this. A former Google AI researcher reportedly spoke out against using that data, warning that it would violate OpenAI's terms of service and result in similar answers. The report also highlights Google's attempt to make DeepMind more independent from the company.

📻 AI coming to host radio shows near you

So, get this: Drew Carey, the comedian and TV host, handed over his radio show to an AI version of himself. Yep, you read that right. It had some glitches, and his fans weren't thrilled, but the experiment showed that AI can potentially run a radio show. ElevenLabs and Super Hi-Fi are even partnering up to create AI-driven radio stations. Who knows? Maybe in the future, you'll tune in to a radio station hosted by a robot with more personality than Siri. But for now, let's just stick to the good ol' human DJs, because let's face it, no one wants to listen to a soulless robotic voice introducing songs.
